Enter VYKON® Security, an advanced, web-based, Internet-enabled access control and intrusion detection system built on the industry leading NiagaraAX Framework®. VYKON Security provides physical protection for your assets whether a single building or a large multi-site application. VYKON Security enables authorized security administrators to manage credential enrollment, access rights and schedules, time and attendance, and alarm response in real time via a standard web browser from anywhere at anytime. In a dynamic world where personnel and requirements can change quickly, having real-time control provides better security.

At the heart of VYKON Security is the Security Appliance, an IP-based controller capable of storing thousands of credentials and controlling multiple doors. The Security Appliance serves the complete VYKON Security software suite to a standard web browser, eliminating the need for an on-site PC or the purchase and installation of proprietary software. No longer is the security staff chained to a particular PC for system monitoring and management. Managing thick client software upgrades is a thing of the past, and because the NiagaraAX Framework uses standard IT technologies (i.e., browser, XML, SNMP, LDAP, JMS, etc.), it's easy to manage the convergence of physical and logical security.

Security professionals will recognize that a physical security system built on the NiagaraAX Framework will provide better ROI than closed PC-based systems. It reduces costs by allowing remote maintenance and troubleshooting. Devices from multiple manufacturers work as an integrated system, thereby reducing the cost to purchase, maintain, and repair.

VYKON Security is rich with ease-of-use features and is designed with intuitive browser-based views of credentials, schedules, alarms, and activities. Setup of the system is simple via a series of wizards that will have your basic protection up and running quickly. Enrolling new employees is a snap.

While basic setup is quick and easy, authorized security personnel can also enable more advanced logic such as multiple levels of anti-passback, integration with the building automation systems, and custom reporting views.

To integrate diverse systems a physical connection to a device's network is required. The Java Application Control Engine (JACE) is the mechanism that provides this connectivity to systems within a building. By connecting common network protocols such as LonWorks, BACnet, and Modbus, along with many proprietary networks a unified system without seams emerges. Scalability and reliability concerns are avoided with the unique distributed architecture that a network of JACE's creates.

New Graphics Presentation Framework and Graphic Development Tool
NiagaraAX includes an all new technology for creating browser-based displays. This new technology supports both rich client displays for use with browsers that support Java plug-ins, plus pure thin client displays that support only HTML and JavaScript. This comprehensive framework permits you to create displays for wide range of devices including PC’s, PDA’s and smart phones. AX’s new presentation technology automatically generates navigation trees that eliminates substantial application development effort, and includes an extensive library of graphic elements to aid in the user experience.

Comprehensive Library of Control Objects
We’ve added a new comprehensive set of control objects to make it easier to accomplish control strategies. Custom programming objects can be developed to provide even more flexibility.

New Data Archive Model and Flexible Archive Destinations
A new time-series model provides a fast and scalable historical database. This allows historical data to be archived from anywhere to anywhere, permitting unlimited flexibility in system architecture.

New Alarming Capabilities Provides Better Visualization and User Experience
Many of the features provided by the separate Vykon Alarm Service application are now built into the core of NiagaraAX,e.g., Sortable Columns, Sound Files and the ability to add Notes to Alarms.

Reporting
NiagaraAX includes a comprehensive, built-in reporting system. A native query language (BQL) allows you to query and assemble data from anywhere within a station, and a built-in PDF document engine produces complete, high quality report formats – even directly from a JACE. A single click on a link in a graphic can produce a customized, dynamically created report.

Open Driver Development Toolkit
Now partners can develop their own communication drivers independent of Tridium. A comprehensive “driver framework” dramatically reduces development time and insures that all drivers are modeled in a uniform way to insure consistency and reduce complexity.

Open APIs for Developers
In NiagaraAX, all of the APIs for internal system operations are available to developers. You can create your own applications, plug-ins, wizards and drivers completely with the Framework.
